Business context
Morgen is a daily planner that prioritizes your most important to-dos, events, and projects in one app.
The problem
Morgen 2.0 didn't launch with a team availability feature which blocked teams from switching to Morgen as their shared calendar tool.
This was a core business issue since paid team plans were Morgen's core monetization channel.
Framing the problem
Based on user interviews and feature requests, users needed a way to easily view their team member's availability to even consider switching to Morgen.
This problem wasn't a dramatic revelation, but it required us to prioritize this core function over more novel features like AI time optimizers we shipped later.
Together with Morgen's CEO and CTO, we framed the problem and shaped a blueprint of what should the feature look like.
Shaping for stronger positioning
To help position Morgen as a team calendar, I wanted to visually show the user's team members in the default app view, and allow users to quickly see their team member's availability.
I explored multiple ways this intention could fit into the current app view.
Prototyping the core interaction
After reviewing multiple designs and prototypes, we decided on one that fitted our timeline and engineering capacity.
Users can customize five quick access slots to view their relevant team members' availability at a glance.
We capped the quick-access slots at five to keep the navbar clean
and reduce cognitive load over a scrollable list.

Organic monetization
To further support Morgen's monetization efforts, I designed an additional sidebar variant to let non-paying users get a feel for how "Morgen for teams" could be valuable to them.
